What does Love Retro Color means?
Our founder, Kelly, chose this name because of her love for bright colors and vintage designs. "Love" reflects her appreciation for creativity and craftsmanship, while "Retro Color" symbolizes the fun and bold colors that inspire her jewelry, hair accessories, and craft supplies.
Each piece in her collection evokes a sense of nostalgia, showcasing styles from past decades. She believes that colors can evoke feelings, spark memories, and tell stories, and she aims to capture that magic in every creation.
By blending her passion for retro styles with a modern touch, she invites others to explore a colorful world where they can express their unique style through jewelry-making and crafting. She is grateful to everyone who joins her on this vibrant journey!
About our Founder
The journey in arts and crafts began when she was young. She loved being creative and seized every chance to express herself through jewelry-making, tie-dye T-shirts, and drawing and painting. Art classes in school and college helped her build a strong foundation.
In 2003, she found her specialty: braided ribbon barrettes. The show "I Love the '80s" on VH1 Classic inspired her to create these fun accessories, bringing back joyful childhood memories. She felt excited about making them, which pushed her to design more unique accessories.
Four years later, she saw a need for stylish, professional accessories for women of all ages and began making beaded bobby pins for work and after-work events, like cocktail parties. Frustrated by the limited choices, she created bobby pins that showcased her bold personality and style. People loved them, and she enjoyed sharing her creations.
Why She Left Etsy
Kelly joined Etsy in 2006, just as it was beginning to gain popularity, selling her handmade jewelry and hair accessories through her shop, Retroeighties Jewelry & Accessories, as well as craft supplies in another shop called Love Retro Color. Eventually, she merged both Etsy shops into one comprehensive e-commerce site. And here we are!
Over time, Kelly noticed changes at Etsy that didn't align with her vision as a long-time seller. This realization led her to conclude that she could have a better experience by launching her own website. Today, she is excited to return to her craft business after a long hiatus and share her work with others. She hopes customers will enjoy shopping at her store as much as she enjoys creating. Together, she aims to make this journey truly remarkable!
